I look forward to setting up my still life compositions in the Studio! It usually starts with a trip to the Market: the farmer’s and antique markets, even the regular grocery store in the winter months. The fruit and veg all look so beautiful, glossy and fresh, and I cannot resist antique kitchen ware. I love the signs of use on everyday objects, ironstone plates and cups, old wooden handled knives and pickle forks. I go gaga for anything enamel of which I have quite a collection. I just cannot pass up a tiny, delicate china cup, oh I could go on and on! Then setting up the composition in my Studio is like getting a set ready for a picture shoot, the light has to be directed on to the table, what are those shadows doing, do I have a piece of purple cloth to set off those intensely coloured Fall squash? The smell of my oils…
Patti – I love these – especially the teacup!
